Why is the West Stand changing?

West Ham United is committed to ensuring all supporters have the best possible matchday experience at London Stadium. Reconfiguring the Stadium is something supporters wanted us to explore. Following similar improvements to the Bobby Moore and Sir Trevor Brooking Stand lower tiers last year, the plan is for a new West Stand lower tier layout, with the stand being squared-off in line with a more traditional football stadium configuration.

The improvements will add 1,500 new seats to the West Stand lower tier, ensuring that more fans can get closer to the action and will see greater joining of the upper and lower tiers bringing supporters closer together and helping to further enhance the matchday experience.

What has been the process to get to this point?

The Club has been working with stadium management to review all areas of the new West Stand proposal, exploring all of the finer details, including looking at pricing structure, allocations, groupings for seat moves, personal communications to Season Ticket holders and processes for supporting their requirements.

As always, our priority must be to communicate personally with all of the supporters who are connected to these changes – namely West Stand Season Ticket holders. It is important that they hear the full details about any changes to their seating arrangements from the Club first.

The West Stand will be squared-off in line with a more traditional football stadium configuration as the next step in improving the overall supporter experience at London Stadium, something fans wanted and the Club has delivered, after naming the Billy Bonds Stand, reconfiguring the Bobby Moore and Sir Trevor Brooking Stands, and introducing more claret and blue last year.

A bespoke online portal for fans to be able to see the reconfigured stands alongside Computer Generated Images showing views from seats, so that they were fully informed ahead of Season Ticket renewals being announced for the 2022/23 season.

We want to reassure you West Stand Season Ticket holders that they are our main priority, and we want them to be happy with all the options available to them.

What is the process for Season Ticket renewals?

Each supporter will have different circumstances and factors to consider and therefore we will communicate individually with you to ensure that your personal situation and requirements are treated with the utmost care and attention.

The Club and London Stadium intends to reconfigure the new West Stand and install the new configuration as soon as the season ends this summer.

The intention is for Season Ticket Holders to renew their Season Ticket with their new seating position, but each fan will have the option for a priority seat relocation. Priority seat relocations happen each season and are undertaken in order of how early a supporter renews.

For all Season Ticket Holders impacted by the new stand proposal, their relocation period will be treated ahead of this, again in the order of when supporters renewed.

We are committed to ensuring that the challenging process of relocating supporters is as smooth as possible, providing you with full information in direct letter, email and SMS messages confirming:

  • Information on how the West Stand will enhance the atmosphere at London Stadium
  • A bespoke online portal for fans to be able to see the reconfigured stands alongside Computer Generated Images showing views from seats, so that they were fully informed ahead of Season Ticket renewals being announced for the 2022/23 season
  • Each Season Ticket Holder with a personalised email, including a log-in to the aforementioned portal, and personal phone calls from the West Ham United Ticket Office, as well as being on hand to assist and answer any questions from supporters who sit in the West Stand Lower Tier
  • An indication of where they are currently sat in comparison to their new seating location for full transparency
  • Support and assistance options available through the Ticketing and Supporter Services teams

What is the process for Season Ticket relocations?

We have created an online portal – newstands.whufc.com - for fans to be able to see the reconfigured stands, and some Computer-Generated Images showing views from seats, so that you are fully informed ahead of Season Ticket renewals for next season.

Our Ticketing team is also happy to discuss any queries you may have with your new seat location and offer support and assistance wherever we can. Contact 0333 030 1966, option 1. Lines are open Monday to Friday, 9:00 – 17:00.

We appreciate that this relocation may result in a change to your view of the pitch, and this is something that we have been conscious of and tried to minimise the impact of wherever we can. When reallocating seats for supporters, the Club has undertaken every effort to keep groups and families together within the new seating layout. Importantly, the new stand design will mean that you are still able to access the same concourse areas that you had access to previously.

Priority seat relocations happen each season and are done in order of how early a supporter renews. Should you wish to relocate your Season Ticket and/or remain in the West Stand Lower Tier you will have a priority relocation period ahead of this process, again in the order of when supporters renewed, so that you have the priority of moving to available seats.

Have I been relocated with the group I sit with?

Have I moved price bands? Will I be asked to pay more?

The price bands across the entire West Stand lower tier have been recalibrated as the layout and size of the new stand is no longer the same.

The Club is committed to providing affordable family football, offering access to the cheapest Season Ticket in the Premier League, and increasing our concessionary rates from under 16s to under 18s for the 2022/23 season.

While price banding may have changed in the West Stand lower tier to reflect the new configuration, we will be happy to discuss the requirements of any Season Ticket holder who may wish to sit in an alternative price band or area of the stadium.

The Club will always look to accommodate the needs of our supporters, wherever we can. Supporters can call the Ticketing team on 0333 030 1966, option 1.

How will my view of the pitch change?

Each Season Ticket Holder who has been impacted will have received a letter, email and access to an online portal which show them on a seating plan how their individual seating position has changed.

There are also a selection of Computer-Generated Images showing views of the pitch from various section of the new stands.

My new seating position is not covered by the roof meaning it’s more affected by bad weather– is that something you’ve considered?

We are aware that by bringing the stands closer to the pitch, some seats are not covered by the roof line. If you would like to relocate, rest assured you will be given priority to allow you to do this.

My seat appears to have moved further back – why is that?

The proposals will change the shape of the stand, so not every seating position will remain entirely like-for-like. However, the Club has made every effort to map Season Ticket Holders’ seats across to the new reformatted stand so that their view is the closest equivalent viewing experience.

If you would like to relocate, rest assured you will be given priority to allow you to do this.

You’ve included the option for rail seating / safe standing – does this mean I can now stand up freely? Why haven’t you just made it safe standing now like other Clubs have?

The new West Stand will be compatible with rail seating, to allow them to be adapted in future, should there be any changes to Premier League guidelines on safe standing.

Why is the seat number of my new seating position completely different to my existing one?

The new stands have a completely new seat number and block number system, so you cannot correlate your existing seat number with this new seating plan.

The Club has made every effort to keep families together by cross referencing each seat with the address of the Season Ticket holder.

If any supporter feels that they have not been grouped together their family as a result of this process, we would ask that they contacted the Club at their earliest convenience on 0333 030 1966, option 1.
